IDM (Internet Download Manager) is one of the most famous download manager software and everyone knows about it, there's no doubt!. It has highest download speed rates than compared to any other download manager software.
You have noticed that some server supports resuming function where as some does not support it. Not only this, there are some other reasons as well due to which your downloads get broken or corrupted.
Some of them are mentioned below :
- Some websites have time limitations for downloading any file. This situation especially occurs when you try to download big files. In those cases, if your internet connection is not that good, Then it’s really a waste of time for you to downloading a big file which doesn’t support resume because if you fail to download big file within website time limits, server will reset the download link and you have to download the same file again from beginning.
- Your Internet connection problems such as your ISP server got down due to some technical problem and you lost your internet connection.
- You mistakenly pause it or closed the IDM or due to your system hardware problem your PC automatically restarted or due to some other OS (Operating System) problem that crash the IDM.
- When file downloading server stopped responding unexpectedly.
- IDM failed to send download request to file downloading server, this can be due to IDM itself fault as well.
- Response of the IDM was "Do you want to download it from the beginning". Oviously you don't want to download it from the beginning if you have downloaded 1 GB of file or more.
- Sometime downloading stops at 99.99% and you don't want to download from beginning isn't?
Don't worry there is tricks to download the same file from where IDM has stopped. So, without wasting time lets see it.
Just follow these easy steps carefully :
- To continue to download the same file you have to get the new link of the same file that it stopped. During downloading a file a new IDM window will appear. See the below pic.
- Now copy the new link. With mouse click select the whole link and copy it. See the below pic. Copy the whole link highlighted in red box.
- Cancel the new download window. Now go to IDM and right click on that file which you were downloading and select Properties.
- Replace the Entire Old File Address and Paste the new File Address there. See the pic below. Properly mention in red box.
- Click on OK, and resume the download and your downloading should resume now normally. It will start from where it got stopped.
NOTE : Steps should be followed carefully. If you do it in hurry then your problem will not solve and you will be left with half stopped downloads.
